Monitoring and Planning to Ensure Reliability

SAWS is committed to ensuring the reliability of our water services. Through investments in maintenance, upgrades, or new infrastructure we are always working towards reducing service interruptions and water loss while maintaining the highest levels of water quality. Through new technologies like Smartball and Pipe Diver that are inserted into our system to assess the condition of our large diameter water pipes or tried-and-true methods like listening for leaks above ground our monitoring programs helps us address issues faster. This in turn prevents larger leaks from developing or helps us quickly find and repair small hidden ones.

Frequent Breaks

We analyze the frequency, location and pipe materials associated with line breaks to immediately respond to known breaks and plan preventative maintenance projects.

Growth

San Antonio is growing! We use growth projects to forecast and plan investments in our water infrastructure.

Leak Detection

We use tried-and-true methods like listening for leaks above ground to allow us to find smaller leaks that may not have surfaced yet.

Technology

We leverage innovative technology like Smartball that contains acoustic and magnetic sensors and a gyroscope which locate leaks and air pockets in the joints or barrel of the pipes providing data for detailed models that support the most effective rehab or replacement decisions.

New Supplies

We stay ahead of the curve with careful planning and inventory management ensuring we have what we need exactly when we need it.
